The Mid-Autumn or Moon Festival is one rich in poetic significance. Ancient legends that became interwoven with this festival‘s celebration further contribute to the warm regard in which it has always been held by the Chinese people. According to the lunar calendar , the seventh, eighth, and ninth months constitute the autumn season. Mid-Autumn Festival falls on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month, precisely in the middle of this season, when the heat of the summer has given way to cool autumn weather, marked by blue skies and gentle breezes. On this day the moon is at its greatest distance from the earth; at no other time is it so luminous. Then, as the Chinese say, “The moon is perfectly round.” In the villages the heavy work involved in the summer harvest has already been completed but the autumn harvest has not yet arrived.

The actual origins of the Mid-Autumn Festival are still very unclear. The earliest records are from the time of the great Han dynasty emperor Wu Di , who initiated celebrations lasting three days, including banquets and “Viewing the Moon” evenings on the Toad Terrace. We know that people during the Jin dynasty continued the custom of Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations, and similar accounts have come down to us from the time of the Tang dynasty. During the Ming dynasty houses and gardens were decorated with numerous lanterns and the sound of gongs and drums filled the air.

Moon cakes came on sale shortly before festival time. In the past, one could get some cakes shaped like pagodas, others like a horse and rider, fish or animals. Still others were decorated with the images of rabbits, flowers, or goddesses. There were a myriad of different fillings available: sugar, melon seeds, almonds, orange peel, sweetened cassia blossom, or bits of ham and preserved beef. The cakes are of the northern and southern styles, but the latter arethe most popular and are available throughout the country.

The round shape of cakes just symbolizes not only the moon but also the unity of the family. Therefore the Mid-Autumn Festival is actually a day for family reunion

When I think of happiness, I dont sincerely remind myself of the happiness I had hidden in my heart - Mid-Autumn Festival. Today is Mid-Autumn Festival. As the saying goes, "Mid Autumn Festival reunion", our family will get together to have a reunion dinner. The hot pot and the harmonious atmosphere of our family make me feel warm. I think: It feels great to have a home! Eating, eating, night has quietly descended. After having a reunion dinner, my family and I happily went up to the rooftop with mooncakes to admire the moon. Because it is Mid-Autumn Festival, the moon is round and bright, adding luster to the night, as well as colorful fireworks, which are radiant and beautiful. At this moment, my sister and I were each holding a mooncake and lighting two sticks of incense to stick onto each one.

The worship of the moon began, and we waited for the moon hiding behind the dark clouds to show its face and made a wish. After making a wish, both of us praised our mooncakes for being delicious. Let Grandpa and them taste them quickly. Grandpas humorous jokes made us laugh, and his cute expression made everyone laugh. We hummed the song our sister taught us to sing, which filled the night of the Mid Autumn Festival. That Mid-Autumn Festival, let me feel the warmth of home, home happiness, home happiness! This is the happiest thing for me.

Today is Mid-Autumn Festival. The weather is a bit cool, but the air is very good. Facing the gentle autumn breeze, my parents and I drove to Laojun Cave in Nanshan to offer incense.

The car is slowly driving on the winding mountain road, and there are too many cars along the way. There may be many people like us going to burn incense! Because Laojun Cave is a Taoist resort in Chongqing. It is said that the incense in the temple is very spiritual. After 50 minutes of driving, an antique building appeared in front of me, and Laojun Cave arrived.

My mom and dad went to Laojun Cave. Dad bought incense, candles, and paper and went into the front door to start burning incense. I took two candles and lit the candle incense. Silently pray in my heart for the health of my loved ones and for the happiness of my teachers and classmates. Later, my father said we should go and see if my name is on the merit list. After searching for a long time, my father couldnt find it, but in the end, my mother found it. It was engraved with my fathers name, Zheng Chongdao.

Down the mountain came the car stereo and the singer Faye Wong. When will the moon be shining? This beautiful song. I listened carefully to the song and sighed as I wished for a long and beautiful life. Ah。 The moon in the mountain city must be very beautiful and bright tonight!
